  • 8006 + G100 on setting 3 + #66 = holograms?

I just got a good amount of supplies from ADS, and I decided to give my car a quick go around with 66.
I wasn't expecting a lot in the way of swirl removal, so that's okay. Although, it seems like I left a few waves. I'll try to take pictures, but it looks vaguely like holograms, and they weren't there before.

What could I have done wrong? What can I do to prevent holograms with a G100 in the future?

    Hi,
If your sure they weren't there before? The only thing I can think of where you would get holograms would be somehow you've introduced dirt into your routine somehow. Possibly by a dirty towel or your pads weren't clean? Another thought would be since 66 has the same cutting power as 80, your not working the 66 long enough to break down the abrasives? Try using it on a speed of 5 with a polishing pad work it like you would 80, slow and enough pressure until it breaks down, Then remove. I've found if I let 66 stay on the car and go back to remove it, it's not that easy to get off.

The 3.0 setting is pretty slow for applying a cleaner/wax like M66 which is a very strong cleaner/wax. Can't say I've ever seen this happen before with this product. Whenever you're trying a new product or process, always do a test section first and make sure you can make a small area look good before trying to make the entire car look good.

Things that can cause swirls are,
      • Buffing to a dry buff
      • Pushing to hard on the polisher
      • Not hold the pad flat
      • Using too little product
      • Not buffing long enough to effectively break down the diminishing abrasives
      • Not shaking the product well before using it.
It could be that you're seeing wax smears or shimmers also, be sure to allow waxes to fully dry before removing.

Spread on 3 and "map your area" then crank up the juice to 5 and "cut" the area. Spray LT or QD and wipe if you are seeing residue. If it changes direction then it's residue, if it is very regular and patterned it's holograms.
