  • How many pads do you guys have for each product

Going crazy trying to have enough pads for my pc and rotary. I am thinking about dedicating one pad to each product for now. I havent experimented much with all the new megs stuff and the detailing season is coming to an end here soon for me. OT at work is great right now. 8 hours is like 3 details.

So while I figure out these new products on my vehicles 1 pad should be suffice? Just need to clean often.

That's what I do. One pad per product, and clean often as you go. Here is what I use:

    8006 - #83
    8006 - #80
    9006 - NXT
    7006 + bonnet - NXT removal

ScratchX is applied by hand with a hi-tech applicator pad or terry. Polish is applied by hand with a hi-tech applicator pad. Edit: I don't have a rotary, just a G-100 though.

I'm very close to getting a G100 and was thinking along the lines of Guiser for the pads I'd need. One question though, if I did want to apply a pure polish like DC #2, is there a benefit to apply it with the G100, or is it better to do by hand?

Also, I will probably also have a pad dedicated to ColorX. That's one of my favorite Meguiars products.

The polishes go on so fast by hand (with a hi-tech applicator pad) I personally don't see the benefit to applying by machine. When I have used them, I just work them in to a fairly large section and remove before dry. It might save time to remove by machine with a bonnet over a 7006 pad, but I have never tried this. Anyone else out there work polishes by machine?

The reason I would apply a pure polish via PC and the 9006 pad would be for a more even application. And it's a little faster

Maybe I will give it a try next time I do a full detail. Time to order another 9006.

I have 4 finishing pads, 4 polishing pads and a cutting pad(for the bonnets)... I always make sure I have a clean backup should one get damaged in the middle of a detailing.

I don't dedicate one pad per product and I experiment with too many products. I wash mine by hand with dish soap (not recommended by Meguiars) after one or two uses let dry for a day or two and its ready to go.

I have 4 yellow and 2 of the 9000 for my rotary and I think 2 or 4 of the yellow for my pc. I am going to be doing some experimenting and I have heard some people here say they use 3 or 4 pads to do one car.

I hear from a friend who is into detailing that the 9000 pad for the rotary is awesome for finishing down especially with 3m SMR. I figured I would try 82 with the 9000 as a finisher. The local store was all out so I have to go back next week.

Thanks for the input. It was driving me crazy wanting to buy more pads. I almost feel like I dont want to start my truck until I have everything here as an in case type situation.

I am going to do some side by side pics of the 80 with rotary and PC. Some people swear the pc micro marrs real bad but the cars I see on here are top notch finishes.
