  • How to use the PC Video!

It was suggested by Murr1525 I purchase and view the "How to use the PC for showcase results" video. Well, I did and am excited to get started. Amazing how informative this video is, explains in detail the proper use of the tool and some of the products. Thank you Murr1525!

Now, after watching the video and taking untold pages of notes, I have a couple questions.

My car has a lot of wax on it now, and I can feel very little surface impurities in the paint that would require a clay bar. Should I remove or strip the wax to be sure the impurities aren't under the wax?

How do you clean the pads after use, washing machine, mild soap and water?

When using the PC and polish, how can you tell when you have removed the scratches and swirls, or when do you know when to quit?

When taping the high spots at hood and fender edges, do you polish these areas after the PC by hand?

Would you ever use #7 instead of wax?

Can the technique and applicator that was recommended for the NXT spray wax be used for Detailer?

O.K., one more time. . . . thank you Murr1525! If you haven't seen this video, buy it at www.showcargarage.com!

Well, since you took my advice once, I'll start you off with some more...

    1. The clay + cleaner/polish (or a cleaner alone) will remove the wax and any impurities. Remember the clay isnt wipe on wipe over, you do have to do a few passes. So the first pass might grab wax sticking up, and the second orthird might grab the dirt underneath.

    2. Hand applicators I soak in a little Dawn+water. The PC pads you really dont need to "clean". Soaking them can loosen the velcro backing. It is best to let it dry, then take a brush, like a denture brush, or other medium stiff brush, put the pad on the PC, and just spin the pad, whacking the dried stuff off.

    3. A bit of experience is what it takes. You saw how to tell when the polish was broken down, so at that point, you could pul lthe car out into the sun, or grab a bright light. Some folks will also do a wash of 50:50 water / alcohol, to remove any polish to see just the paint.

    4. Yes, if you have real sharp points, you can come back by hand on the very top, though still dont overdo it, esp on old cars.

    5. No, you might be confused cause Mike used #7 at the end of the video. That was just for fun. If you were to actualy use #7 on a regular car, it would be #80--> #7--> Wax.

    6. Sort of. the spray detailer products could be applied with a MF cloth, or the even coat applicator. But the deatailers dont dry and haze. You just apply them and move on, almost like a glass cleaner.. just wipe on, wipe off, and keep moving. But a spray wax will add a little wax protection, while a detailer wont.
