This weekend I had a pretty significant detail to make a name for myself. I detailed a Escalade which is owned by Jerry Rices personal assistant. I was soooo stoked when I picked up this job! I still am!
The night before I went to detail the truck I bought more painters tape.... well.. I decided to try "Duck" brand tape. It looks like a 3M knockoff, deffinately cheaper. Label says the same.. X day release.. blah blah blah.
Well.. I tape the Escalade off.. start polishing with the 8006 pad. After a few panels I notice blue specs stuck in the pad.
Specs that WOULD NOT come out! They ended up embedded deep into the foam and coincidently I couldnt remove all the swirls in one pass. Gee.. I wonder why.
So after doing one whole side of the truck... #80 pass.. I notice this problem. I ended up doing the truck by avoiding the tape the whole time and then hand working up to it. Obviously I had to redo that whole side.
Anyway... no more "DUCK" brand painters tape. 3M only from now on.
I know we arent supposed to bad mouth other products but I really thought this should be brought up. Itll save you an hours worth of work, a polishing pad, and product.
