  • How to properly clean inside doorframes?

I'm not sure if doorframes are what they are actually called. It's the part of the paint that you only see when the door is open. I don't like having a freshly detailed car, but when you open the door you see a bunch of dirt. This car is black, so it really stands out.

So, how do you clean these areas? I can't use the hose, since the doors are open. Is there some sort of spray cleaner that is recommended? Wouldn't wiping it clean just scratch? Thanks in advance for any advice.

One of the nozzles that I use has a "misting" feature. I mist the door jambs that's the proper term), use my regular car washing solution and a mitt, then rinse it again using the "misting" feature.

I dry the jambs and when I am waxing apply a coat of wax to the jambs.

I think the word you are looking for is door jam. I use my cegreaser on the hinges and then spray. Be careful. Dont want that on the paint. I usually only do on a full detail. Otherwise a good wipe down inside is ok. Watch that grease and grime doesent spread.

Would Quick Detailer work for something like this? Isn't it supposed to remove light dust and other surface contaminants? I don't really want to spray water with the doors open. Unless that's the only way...

Rather than misting in, I use a damp cloth.

But yes, QD would certainly be good as well, or a damp cloth + QD.

I usually clean them with boar's hair brushes and swabs. Once they're clean, polishing and LSPing will make subsequent cleanup quick and easy (with just shampoo mix).

If they're especially greasy, I use a solvent for the initial cleanup. This is handy when somebody has carelessly lubed the hinges/latches.

After washing, I use two water magnets to dry the car.

After I'm done doing the outside, I open the doors and mist a little bit of QD on the door jambs and make a pass with the moist towels.

Whenever I was the car, I also wax the door jambs.
