  • Window tint?

Anyone have any experience or info regarding the removal of window tint?

A regular customer just had a car fail for the tint being to dark. He has to remove the tint before it can be re-inspected and asked me if I was interested.

Just want to know what I am getting into......

    window tint removal

what i have done in the past is with a single edge razor blade ,start in the top corner and get it started. then use either a product called "goof off" or 3m general adhesive remover and dribble it behind the tint. work your way down, and of course you want to protect the area from runoff, and be carefull of the rubber trim and defroster wires
good luck! that is why the tint shop i use doubles the price if they have to remove tint

I just pulled mine of yesterday due to a citation and heres what I did. Moved the window down about an inch or two, then peeled the tint off with the razor blade. You may or may not have glue adhesive left on the window, depending on what glue your window tinter uses. If you have some residue, spray a ton of glass cleaner on the windows and scrape with a razor blade to remove.

Depends. Of it is the back window and he has a window defroster on it stay away. I hear the only safe way it to use a trash bag and amonia. and let the thing bake in the sun. I hear it is a real messy job. If it is on the side windows you can use a razor blade to get you started and just pell the tint off slowly. To get the glue residue off use goo gone the stuff is amazing the glue will come off with no problem.

          with flipper.
You left out licking the water off. Oh, wait a minute, that's my cat, not my car. Uh, I mean my cat licks himself dry. I don't lick my cat dry. Or my car. -PC.

            Thanks guys...

it is the side windows front and rear, soo there should not be a problem with wires......

I may end up turfing it off anyway, I'll let you know how I make out.

I had this problem before and asked but didn't get an answer. My brother in law had the same problem. After some debate he, believe it or not , used a mr. clean magic eraser. It really worked well.
              Hope this helps
