  • DA M83 - Whats the Shelf Life?

So about 18 months ago, i bought two 32oz bottles of #83 and it worked great on several cars. Worked wonders, removed all the swirls and everything.

Used it with great results on...
    - 2001 Honda Accord
    - 2002 BMW 3-Series
    - 2002 MB CLK Class
    - 1999 MB C Class

Its probably been about a year since I last used #83 on anything. So, I picked up an '03 E Class Mercedes and its black and I knew I was going into a world of hurt getting another black car.

Anyways, it has LOTS of swirl marks... I spent about 10 hrs total washing, claying, buffing with #83, 2 layers of NXT wax and in the end... I still had tons of swirls on the finish...

So, my question is, is my 83 dead? It almost had no effect on my swirls, and they don't appear to be deep scratches...

I know the newer E-Class use a nano technology for the clearcoat, but I don't think the '03 had it. The nano tech for the CC suppose to make the CC SUPER HARD.

    Any help???

I also just purchased a 1 Gallon bottle of the M83 but haven't tried it to see if its the solution of if its the car...

i just did a quick search and Meguiars says it should last 3-5 years when the bottle is properly closed/sealed and not frozen.

Well, the bottles were sealed and it doesn't seem to be working... Can anyone attest to it perhaps being the nano clearcoat???

      I'm assuming you're using a G100.

Did you shake the #83 well before squirting onto the pad? Did it come out a thick, consistent liquid like when you first used it? It didn't get frozen since the last use did it? (I know your location says So Cal but hey, could be in Big Bear or some snowy place.) Unlikely stuff but I thought I'd ask.

It really just sounds like the paint on the E Class is a lot tougher than the others, for whatever reason.

I'd suggest picking out a test spot and trying another round or two with the #83 to see if there's more progress.

Some paints just demand a rotary and more aggressive products. Can you swing by a Wednesday night open garage sometime to have Mike or one of the Meguiar's gang have a look?
