  • Backing Plate

I have the Meguiars PC and backing plate and I have used the PC about 11 times over various vehicles. I noticed a while ago that the velcro was starting to peel away slightly around the edges of the backing plate, but nothing too bad. This past weekend I waxed one car and then polished and waxed a second car in the same day. The velcro has now peeled away about a 1/4" to 3/8" around the entire perimeter of the backing plate.

Does anyone know if there is another backing plate available from another source that will work with the PC and be more resistant to delaminating of the velcro backing?

I have the Lake County backing plate and I've done quite a few cars over 4 years and it is still as good as new. Nothing against meguiar's stuff, but this is the best backing plate that I have ever used.

Actually I take that back, now that I look, I got a Sonus backing plate and it has lasted a good while. I was thinking of the pads that I originally got with my PC, which were lake Country pads. Oh well.

I am using a Lake Country 6" DA backing plate with LC pads as well, I like the backing plate, but want to switch to Meguiar's pads...(keep in mind, I bought these pads BEFORE switching to all MEGs products )
