Yeah, ScratchX is for paint only.

Have yo utried QD on the material? If the QD doesnt harm it, then claying would be ok, though I don't think it would remove a stain, only actual flakes of wax.

Based on Cubed and Dump Truck's description of it being like black tape, it probably has a vinyl like coating of some sort over the metal and I think I would try some Quick Detailer first since that would be the most gentle, but if that did not touch it, I would try some #39 as this product would be safe for vinyl, plastics, rubber and urethane surfaces. #39 works great for removing wax residue.

On the B pillar....just use some Protect All from www.protectall.com. It is for use on RV's with similar materials as he has described. I use it all the time and it's not a silicone based product that will run like plastic dressings. It's more of a cleaner and wax, but very safe on most materials (ie. plastic, vinyl, metal, paint, glass, etc.) It comes in an aerosol can which is very convenient. And by the way, if Meguiars makes a similar protect, let me know. I'd love to try it.
