  • M82 for Buffer Swirls Removal

    Hi..

I've heard ppl taling about using M80 to get rid of buffer marks or holograms.
    1) Can M82 be strong enough to eliminate the holograms from M83?
    2) Can I follow M82 after 85 ? (using 85 with foam cutting pad). Will it be strong enough or good choice to follow?

    Appreciate all replies.

Re: M82 for Buffer Swirls Removal

M82 is about half as abrasive as M80. When I want the best finish and need start with M83, I follow with M80, then maybe M82.

But since I'm usually using the rotary buffer I will do
    M83 (RB)
    M80 (RB)
    M82 (RB)
    M80 (PC)

M85 is formulated for use with a wool pad. M84 works best with foam (on a rotary buffer). When I use M84, I use it with a W7006 pad which can then but cut with M80 or M83.

....now I se why I had some buffer swirls left when using M84 and a wool pad. so...I think having M83 will be a good option

BTW I'll be using it for the first time. any tips in how to use it for 99% swirl removal or just removing buffer swirls and tough swirl marks at the point where they are barely visible?

Well you SHOULD always start with the least aggressive product to fix the problem. IMO, starting with 84/85 is only reserved for really hard paints that none of the other products will work.

I did a detail a few days ago, where the car had been repainted and was hard as glass. I had to use 84 and a W7006 pad with my RB to remove the swirls, but M83 with a W8006 pad was all that was necessary on the oem paint.

Remember when using aggressive products you will remove defects faster and more effectively but then you will need to remove the machine swirls you instill at the same time.

Sometimes more passes with a less aggressive product is all you need. Like 3 passes of M83.

        Just a thought.

Your last pass might be with a W9006 polishing pad with M82 with RB--that would pretty where I'd stop.

thanks for the advice BTW I used M84 with a wool pad to remove light orange peel from my repainted car's hood, but maybe I'm facing the same problem that you had with the hard paint. so I'll wait for M83 to remove them....and I hope I can earn some money to buy the g100 some time later
