I would just like to see the cut meter on some consumer products as well... for example DC1, Scratch X, Color X, so on ... I think this whole chart thing should be plastered everywhere on here, I go back to it every time I go to buy some megs.

also Im thinking about getting #6 and #81, what is some of you guys input on these. my graduation is comming up quick and my parents want to buy me something so I suggested Megs products too them..lol also I already have #7 will this enhance these by any chance?

Well, the chart becomes a bit less important, other than speed settings for machines, once you realy start talking and working with all the different products. And a lot of things depend on how you apply them, so one exact abrasivness is hard to set.

If you already have #7, that is really the only pure polish you need, unless you really dont like applying by hand. I think it can gum up just a little by machine.

Are you working by hand or machine now? If they want to buy you something, ask for a G-100 and some pads from autodetailingsolutions.com.

Even if you buy the #80/#83 and #21 on your own.

Im applying all by hand I dont mind it, but each time I apply #7 it seems like I add more swirls in the paint, Im not baring down on the applicator or anything, I have question about #7 is it supposed to remove/cover up swirls?

There is nothing abrasive in #7.

How are you applying/ removing it? Are you sure you are removing swirls in your cleaning steps? Not just covering over? Or are you adding swirls somewhere in your washing process?

by hand with a yellow Megs mf applicator using little to no pressure, removal by a clean mf towel, (I put my mf towels in washing machineusing warm water, no fabric softner, using a little bit of downy), well I have yet to get a real polish like #80, I know #80 can remove these swirls, but since Im going off to college, Im gonna hold off on that for a while. I use an insert coin wash, not drive through one, but one were you have a wash gun, adn can select the soaps, I dont use the brush, I only use soap nothing else, then I rinse adn spot free rinse. Thats pretty much it on washing it.

I know that #7 contains no abrasives, I just saw the word polish on the bottle adn thought it would remove some, but since Ive join MOL, Ive learned alot. But one question tho, why make so many different polishes with no abrasives like #81, #5, adn #7... why not make a universal one, and whats the difference in those, since they seem to do the same job?

The only think I can think of is that you didnt mention using a sponge, or anything at all. I wonder if you arent getting the car as clean as possible, and dragging dirt around?

well the only reason why I dont use a sponge or anything like that is that my water here is very hard adn is notorious for making water spots, sometimes they will never go away, and I found that I cause more swirls when I do use a sponge and soap
I forgot to metion above, once I get home from the car wash, I grab my quik detailer adn wipe the truck down.
With my water being bad, should I switch to washing my truck in the shade with soap adn sponge, instead of using a wand that sprays soap and water out at high pressure?

also I have this huge problem of using cleaner/polishes like #80 adn so on, my dad used to be an amature deatiler and he ended up losing his paint job on his truck back in the 70's because whenever he would wax he would take off paint, and he could see it on the rag , and my prob is that I like to apply #26, #7, and either GC or NXT everyday (also if the finish looks like it needs to be cleaned Ill use DC1), ( he tells me Im gonna rub the finish of my 2004 Red Ranger)and if I get a cleaner/polish I would want to use it everyday so this is why Im holding off on it.

I am not sure of the best way to deal with super hard water. Perhaps somone else with it can chime in.

#7 can be used by hand, and may be a bit easier by hand.

I would go with #9 for light swirls, works good by G-100, but i believe people have gotten good results by hand with it as well.

Though ScratchX can always be used as well.

I use scratchx but it doesnt seem to do anything, I apply it the same way as wax, is this a good way or bad... Ive heard that its hard to work in, and I was wondering if you could clear this up, when other guys say workin does this mean to really rub it in?

yes it does rub it in really really good, unitl your arms feel like they are going to fall off. It may take multiple applications to remove the defect

Oh yes, it needs really really worked in. Anything with abrasives does. Give these a read:

It definately needs rubbed and pushed into the paint, and can take a couple applications.
