  • Best product to darken paint

Hi,i was just wondering, what your opinions are,on what product is the best at darkening paint, out of,#21,#26,or nxt.I want to achieve a noticeably darkened look, but not a bright, reflective look, more depth, than reflectivity. many thanks in advance william.

in my experience when i want to add depth i use #7
its a pure polish and its only real job is to add lustre
i usually seal it in with NXT but given the chance i would like to use #21. That seems to be a great product.

so concentrate on the steps before your final sealant to help give you a great depth to your paint. Using a paint cleaner followed by pure polish and then sealed in with a LSP is always a good result.

I'd recommend DC1, followed by DC2, followed by Gold Class. I was surprised how much DC1 darkened the paint on our dark blue 9-3 convertible. I think that there was so much nasty stuff on it (even after claying), that DC1 brought it back to original shine. DC2 made it a little darker, and you just can't beat GC wax for dark colors. Nice thing is, all these products are OTC and affordable.

Regardless of my procedure, my last two steps are #7 followed by #26. #26 will darken the appearance of the finish.

If your looking for the deep dark wet look on a dark colored vehicle.

          E-Jag has it correct.

however proper prep is 95% of getting that great finish. So make sure you properly polish the painted surfaces.

then you can apply a glaze (#7 show car)
and finally a carnuba (#26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax)

As they said, most of the darkening is in the prep. Every little swirl causes the surface to look lighter. So be sure to clay and clean well, then give a good polish with #7. #26 will still look great, but really get it prepped right.
