I tried the product today on my car. I have a black sands pearl scion tc. I applied the product three times to the same area but I did not remove any scratches. I read some other post about how to use this product and they keep saying apply some passion. I rubbed it in but I didn't want to scratch my paint by rubbing it in too hard. Can someone give me some pointers on use this suff correctly? I am doing this all by hand.

Have you read these threads?: What it Means to Remove a Scratch - How to remove a defect by hand with ScratchX - How To Remove Swirls By Hand
You don’t actually “remove” scratches, you remove all the paint around them until it’s flush with the bottom of the scratch. It takes quite a bit of pressure and an awful lot of work, er, excuse me, passion.

Do they disappear when you apply a coat of wax?
Also, how are you washing the car? If you take the time and do the work to remove them then you'll need to take the necessary steps not to put them back in as washing and drying improperly can put fine scratches back into the paint.
What kind of wax have you used in the past and what kind of wax are you using now?

I am currently using the nxt gen tech wax on my car. I used the spray wax once but I do the speed detail afer each wash. I have a wash mit from advanced auto and I use the absorber to dry the car. I was using the california Squeegy if that's the correct name to get the majority of the water off the car. I also use a Roby High pressure washer to spray the car down. usually use the insane tire dressing on the wheels and under the wheel wells. I recently purchased the nxt gen protectent but haven't used it yet. The scratches are not big but I do have some that are bigger . I'm pretty sure i'm over due on new wash mits at this point.

I believe the scratches are harder to see after I wax the car. I waxed the car like 1 month ago. I also needed to add to my previous answer. I use the Gold class car wash but I bought the nxt gen just to see the difference on the next wash. I also use the liquid wax. I think the last time I used paste wax was the #26. My car was just painted and my sister took it thru a car wash. I went to the body shop and they told me to by it and I have been hooked ever since. That's been about 10 years ago.Last edited by jmitch8011; May 21, 2006, 08:25 PM.

Like Mike said, those scratches are pretty small - I would be willing to bet ScratchX can definitely get those out for you.
Like I think Mike was hinting at, they are small enough to maybe be caused by a couple washes with a dirty mitt, or maybe a dirty wax applicator.
I am not saying you were negligent in any way, I am just saying those are pretty minimal - and stranger things have happened!
Read up on ScratchX some more, and give it another shot...I think you will be happy with the results.Nate Williams

If that is all you have for scratches/swirls, you have been doing a GREAT job.

I do have some other scuff marks but I figured I would go over the whole car and get those out. As for the comment about a dirty wash mit. I think i have done that. It snows in the winter and I picked up this poll with a mit on it from autozone. I used my pressure washer to spray it down and then wash with this device. I will be ordering some of the mits from mequiar soon. My car usually looks like this or very close to it. This was the day after I used the nxt gen tech wax.Attached Files
