  • Silver Jetta needs some shine.

    I just picked up a PC 7424 6" and was wondering what pads, cleaner, polish, and wax to use.

    With a little help, ive picked out:

    9006 pad for wax
    8006 for cleaner
    8006 for polish
    7006 backer for MF bonnet

    Mirror Glaze Fine Cut Cleaner
    Mirror Glaze Medium Cut Cleaner (incase fine isnt enough)

    Mirror Glaze Machine Glaze Polish

    Mirror Glaze Polymer Sealant Wax

    Application -> Silver 03 Jetta 1.8t
    The paint is in decent condition, no swirl marks.

    Does this look like a good setup? Any tips/tweaks? Thanks!

    I believe #01 Medium Cut cleaner is recommended for rotary use only. IMHO, I'd go for #80 Speed Glaze or #83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish for more agressiveness instead of Fine cut and Medium cut. However, since you have no swirl marks, you probably can just get away with #82 or #09 since both are really light cleaners. Good luck!

      The #80, #82, and #83 are the most commonly used products with the G100, and definatley the place to start. You would at least want #80 and #83 on your shelf.

      Also, when using a pure polish like the machine polish, you will probably be better with the 9006 pad.

      It is a little older of an article, #21 Synthetic Sealant has come out since, so you are good going with that.

          Remember that Fine Cut and Medium Cut are pretty aggressive, and you probably wont want to use it on your car's finish using a G-100 (PC 7424).

          Meguiar's recommends you use the least aggressive product to achieve the result you are looking for. So, try using #80 on a w8006 at speed 5 in a 2x2 area for a minute-two minutes. Wipe away. If the results you want arent achieved, move on to #83 with the w8006 at speed 5. And so on and so forth.
