  • Some GOOD advice

was told today to use a bonnet over JUST a backing plate to buff the car.

    no pad needed or nothing.

i was thinking, is this guy for real? come on now.

thats what he told me, and when i said no way, he was like well why the hell do they make the buffing pads for then.

when he said that i just stopped.

you do need a pad to put a bonnet over!!
you can use a W7006 because it has a good stiffness to it, but personally i have tried other pads (w8006, W9006) with a bonnet over them and it works fine. Just make sure that the pad is clean

oh yeah sneek i knew the guy was crazy and that i wasn't losing my mind.

i've asked people enough questions via PM to know at least this much info.

      haaaaaaaaaa

crazy that guy. crazy i tell ya.

i'd love to see his car after a buffing job with no pad and just a bonnet.

Could be he’s only familiar with “old school” products.

Many rotary buffers still come with soft rubber backing plates to be use with tie-on wool bonnets. (Most guys who know what they’re doing toss ‘em.)
