Not quite the results I was looking for..

Hi all,

Trying to work on my gf's car before she sells it. It's a yellow Mitsubishi FTO, which has a rear wing. The wing has faded in colour a bit due to being in the sun. I was hoping to polish up the wing and really make it look livelier.

Anyway the steps I used.

- Deep Crystal Car Wash
- Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner
- Deep Crystal Wet Look

(last two items applied by hand with Megs Hand Applicator Pads and removed with Polishing Towel)

Whilst the fading is definitely not as noticeable now, the wing still had a very dull look, and not really quite what I expected from the Wet Look polish. Don't currently have pics handy but I followed the instructions on the bottle..

Any ideas or comments, help for me? Would a reapplication help things?

Try ColourX i think over there its called colorbooster or something like that
work it in well then use wet look on top of it

Yeah that's the stuff I was lookin for but couldn't find any at the time..

I'm not sure, but I think Wet-Look is a wax/sealant. You might need to at least find the Deep Crystal Polish if possible as well.

is deep crystal wet lok the name you use for the wax or for the polish?

if you waxed after cleaning, maybe you should've used the polish before the wax.

another thing you could do is clean the wing until you see no fading at all. then polish it, and wax it as a final step. if you want to make it shine a little bit more, you could polish the area twice before waxing.

Just as a sidenote, you shouldn't always follow the directions on the backs of the bottles. Scratch-X says to let it dry before removing, but from reading the forums here (and bad experiences) I know that letting scratch-x dry has no benefits. In fact, it makes it very hard to remove, and doesn't remove any scratches/swirls. Anyway, what I was trying to get at is that you shouldn't always bother with the directions. Instead, read posts and ask questions as to how to use the products correctly.
