  • Applying QD

I have a dilema, ive noticed that alot of you use a "even coat applicator" for applying your QD, now since i have limited resourses here in australia in regards to those things i was wondering if you can apply QD with a applicator pad to get the same results

    Thanks

The Even Coat Applicator is a sponge wrapped in a microfiber cloth. You would actualy be better using a microfiber towel / cloth than a sponge applicator.

So in order to correcly apply QD without an even coat appllicator i woul have to use a MF towel, correct? and am i right in guessin in that i spray the QD on the MF towel and wipe on surface then wipe off with dry part?

Yes...you can use either a quality MF towel or a 100% Cotton Terry Towel to apply and remove a QD.

i have never heard of anyone using an even coat applicator with QD before, but i guess it would work.

Why wouldn't you just use a quik detail pad?

What did I miss here? I always thought you sprayed the QD directly onto the surface of the vehicle and wiped with a MF.

Under what circumstances would you spray onto an applicator, then apply to the vehicle and wipe off, rather than as I described above?

The only pad we get down here is ya "applicator pad" nothing else. and on the packaging it says not to spray directly onto the serface (well the one ive seen anyway), also ive seen one of the vids that shows you how to apply it but thought it didnt look nor sound right

Lightly mist the QD in a sweeping motion over the section, then wipe it in with the MF towel and then wipe dry with another MF towel.

Well, yes, that's what I thought and that's what I do. I'm just curious why everyone else here is discussing which applicator pad to use!! It just struck me as odd, that's all, since I've never seen anyone do it that way.

                        Hey,

What a lot of people are now doing is using the Microfiber Quik Detail Pad X-3060 to apply the QD and then wipe off with another MF towel. Using this pad is a little more comfortable, but works the same as a MF towel in my opinion.
