  • Battery powered buffer

I don't see any battery powered buffers like the ones I got a few years ago, have they discontinued these? If they have maybe it is a good idea as the first one I got the buffer head fell off while I was buffing my new Harley and it hit the front fender but lucky for me it was the soft side that hit, I called and got a replacement buffer from Meguiars and put the other in the trash, but this new one also has a habit of doing the same thing but I hate to buy another and I like the idea of being cord free as I can use this at work during my free time where power is at a preimum in the lot.

They're really only good for applying a coat of wax or polish to a perfect finish. They do not offer enough power to remove swirls, i.e., remove paint.

I agree not much for power so you don't have to worry about burnt paint but I just have to watch and make sure I keep it on the the vehicle surface so the buffing head doesn't fall off and the knob that goes in the orbitor doesn't hit and dent/scratch my vehicle.
Am I the only one who is having problems with this buffer with the head fall out? I love it for applying wax and buffing but holding the buttom on is a bit tiring.

That’s true for all orbital buffers (especially so for higher power/higher speed machines like the G100).

Always place it on the surface before turning it on and never lift it off before turning it off.

Plug-in buffers like the G100 have switches that stay on.

no the problem I have is that the buffer head with pad fall out of the machine, I know to turn it off on the vehicle but when you just lift it a bit to move as you can't always reach every area you lift it and that is when unexpectantly the buffing pad assembly falls out.

well if it happens again I will take a picture and send it along but the other day I purchased some Gorilla Glue and stuck some in the hole and put the pad assembly back in the hole and put some weight on it so hopefully it will hold. When I called to complain about it when I purchased the first one 3 years ago I talked to a fellow named Paul and he seem to know what I was talking about as he shipped a new one right out and said to trash the one I had problems with, which I did. I figured Meguiars would want it back but I trashed as I was told to do wish I had kept it so I could take a picture to send to you.
What are the chances of me getting 2 bad ones as I treat my tools with care as they are my best friends and save me money.

Oops, I thought you meant that the pad came off. If the backing plate came off that’s a bad problem.

Is it threaded into the drive assembly? Press fit?

Unfortunately, it’s a fact of life in the manufacturing world that recurring problems can pop up. Meguiar’s doesn’t build this product in house, they get them from a vendor. It could be that the vendor misses the mark sometimes. I don’t know what the warranty is on this particular machine but if it fails again tell Meguiars’ about it. The call’s free and Meg’s customer service is always a cut above.

Sorry to hear that. But if you have any more issues with it, please contact Customer Service. They will take care of you!

As for taking care of your tools, I totally agree! I will not lend my tools out as other people just do not seem to have the same dedication or committment to take care of them like I do.
