can one use the same pad (w8006) for #80 and DC step2? or is mixing pads a no go?, problem is I need to finish up a car and our local suplliers are out of stock, and new pads can only in stock by tuesday..or do you suggest that I apply DC by hand?

No...you should not mix products on the same pad as each product has unique characteristics and compositions.

How about cleaning the pad? I find that for most of the cleaner polishes I can get them pretty clean with just the garden hose. I just lay them flat and spray the heck out of them. Just try not to work the pad too much while it is wet. Just live it flat and mash it periodically to "smoosh" the water out of it.
This is what I do and it works well for me. Just don't mix the 2 products before cleaning them.
Meguiar's recommends not washing pads. But I like like clean pads and wash after every use.
For my wax pads I tend to try to get a few uses out of them before washing them as I do use Dawn with these and feel the dawn will likely screw with the adhesive if I am not careful.Jeff Smith
Don't mistake my enthusiasm for experience.
