Not to steal Meguairs well deserved thunder, because ill always be a faithful user of Megs...But I have to say, I found an awesome wash bucket made by Black Magic with a fitted grit tapper at the bottom of it. I love it. It stays in place with no problems

I have only had one Grit Guard for a few years now and decided it was time to get another....
First thing I noticed it was they were made from different plastic the new GG has more give to it, a softer plastic... a plastic that floats!?!?
Now my old GG is made from a harder plastic, no give and it doesn't float!?!?
Must have been a change in manufacturing.Brandon

I was talking to Richard Lin about this thread today on the phone and we had a few laughs, mostly because while I've seen this thread it's been one I haven't read. He explained to me the jist of the thread and a couple things came to mind,
First thing that came to my mind was that I've never had one float on me, or at least to where it was a memorable problem.
Second was that I use the Grit Guard Dolly Bucket and when you turn the turn-screws in on the side of the dolly to hold the bucket in place it pushes in on the side of the bucket and tightens and traps the Grit Guard down inside the bucket so it can't float to the top.
Third, I don't know why but when I thought about the problem for people that don't have the dolly system, I thought about lead fishing weight that I think you can buy like a spool of wire only it's thick, I thought a couple of chunks of this wrapped around the grill area would keep it from floating but I like DetailManiac's idea best...
Ingenuity, the Mother of all Invention
I took a screen shot of CELL's post with the missing Photobucket photos and this vindicated my thread here,
Why PhotoBucket is a waste of time...
And Monk's post here is pretty funny, I had to think about it for about 2-3 seconds before it sunk in, (no pun intended)

You can also drill several holes in the bottom of the bucket. This will keep the grit guard from floating up.
I'll send the link to this thread to Doug Lamb, the owner of the Grit Guard company, he's a great guy and a real car enthusiasts, maybe he'll chime in.
Good thread, good discussion...
