  • Paint problem - need help.

    Gday,

I've got a paint problem with my car, and need some help.

What's happened is a leaking drain above my car space at my apartment block, has dripped some white substance onto my car. I've tried to wash it off with regular car wash, also tried some bug&tar remover. But I just havent been able to get this stuff off .

Would there be any Meguiars product that can help me?

    Attached are some photo's.

It looks kinda of gooey on the pipe? It is not calcium, or something from hard water?

Try Meguiars detailing clay to remove the contamination.

      Quik Clay System

The clay bar safely traps and lifts off contaminants as you lubricate the surface with Quik Detailer (included).
Let me just add, that its only a suggestion of one of a few ways that it may come off.

It's almost impossible for someone to give you an exact removal method without physically analyzing the contaminant.

It isn't gooey. It feels quite dry and smooth on the paint. It could be calcium?

The build up on the pipe has occured over a long period of time.

I just didnt notice it when I started parking there, but looking at the floor, this has been dripping for a long time....

Perhaps you could try Meguiar's Quick Clay system while following with an aggressive paint cleaner. I dont think Deep Crystal #1 would cut it for this.

whatever I got, I would be taking my receipt to the apartment complex manager for reimbursement.

Definitely show this to who ever is in charge of your facilities for your own benefit and the benefit of everyone else that parks there.

If they offer to pay to have your car detailed that may be worse than the problem. (Sad to say)

Can you peel, pull, chip, etc. the substance off the paint using your fingers? How strong is the bond?
