I think I know the answer but will ask anyhow,
Waiting to take delivery of my DA pollisher G100A. I have a rotary with a collection of pads, I thought they were 6.5inch till today, they are 8inch, can I use them with the G100A ? am I correct in thinking it would affect the performance of the polisher, having Scottish blood I dont want to buy more if I dont have to, thanks in advance,
    Dave,

I think you need the 8" backing plate. W65DA for the G-100, W65 for a rotary. I have Scottish blood too!! Waiting on my pads also.

As kellyinkc points out, they make the W65DA 6” backing plate to use 8” pads with DA polishers.

Just don’t expect them to be as effective for removing defects. By using a larger pad the power of the machine is less concentrated.

You can use them with the 5” plate too but it won’t put as much pressure over the whole pad, further reducing aggressiveness.
