  • Detailing Chrome tomorrow

I have to clean all the chrome on my grandpas Studebaker. I don't know the exact condition of the chrome but I'm sure it won't be a walk in the park. I planed on:

Washing it with a mit and NXT wash
    Clay with quick clay
    metal cleaner/ polish

I really want to do an execellant job on it because my grampa is willing to pay big bucks for quality work. Please give me all the quick advice you can.
I have Blue Metal polish cream and my resources are limited, theres only a Walmart, Napa and O'Reily's around me. Help please

    Hey,

I have had great success with Meguiar's NXT Metal Polysh. I suggest using a piece of terry toweling and REALLY putting some elbow grease into it. If the chrome is pitted or rusted through, there is not much you can do.

Good luck and post some before and after photos if you can!

So, I got there and all the chrome was in terrible condition, theres no rust or anything but it seems like there is a bunch of little spots that are stuck on. I used clay and even tried a little bit of steel wool neither one seemed to work.. Any ideas..I'll try and find a picture similiar to what its like.

Could the spots be described as pimples rising up from the metal and through the chrome? If so, this is the pitting Tim discussed.
See the big picture, enjoy the details
