  • just a few questions

so i washed and waxed my car today. I washed it then clayed it without drying it with mothers clay(could find meguiars) then after i calyed i briefly washed it again then i dried it. After that i used scratch-x on some areas taht i had minor scratches on. Then i used DC #1 and DC#2. Then i waxed with NXT Liquid wax.

My questions are did i clay wrong, why didnt the scratch-x remove my scratches, what can i use to get rid of the scratches, how many times do i need to apply the wax, what can i use in between waxes to keep the car protected and looking clean. I wash every week.
Anyone with alot of detailing experience who is willing to tell me what to get and how to detail please IM me at xal951

you have to work scratchX in its not magic also you can use scratchX on the whole car and not do DC1 or do the whole car with DC1 and then find spots that you need to use scratchX on

claying ...i tihnk turns out better if you dry the car and use the QD or showtime that came with the clay kit... one every 3 weeks for my car but a i apply another coat of wax every week anyway

sry lol i guess you could go buy a cheap orbital or maybe you scratches are too deep to be removed...if you can feel it with your nail it is too deep to be removed

also try "working it in" with a 100% cotton terry cloth towel

i cant feel it, ive already done that test thats why im asking. I thought "scratch"-x would get it out but it didnt. I just wanna take this VERY minor one out, its kinda black looking scratch.

kinda black looking ???? can you take a picture?

if it can be worked out with a terry and a lot of elbow greese you may need to use a rotary

scratch-x is not a miracle product, sometimes it takes 4 or 5 applications for it to become effective.

also it depends on the depth of the scratch, if u run a fingernail across it and you can feel the scratch with your nail, you may only be able to minimize it so its less visible.

              some reading material for you.

                Hey xal951

                Welcome to Meguiar's Online!!

ScratchX is not a wipe on, wipe off product. It must be applied and thoroughly worked into the paint until the product is only a slight residue.

Here are a few links that will help you with the proper application method and procedures:

How To Remove Swirls By Hand

Sometimes if the paint is quite hard, some scratches may not be removed by hand and will require a machine polisher with an experienced user.

Go through the above links and use the methods indicated and report back. We will help you the best we can!!
