with all the oxidation, etc I think it would be a good idea to completely clay and clean the paint THEN see what you have to work with.

I say this based on my experience. I guarantee I have well over $1500.00 worth of meguair''s product sitting at the house. When I got into this, "I GOT INTO THIS". It is very easy to get on here and put out a vague request for a wish list and end up getting a slew of products you really don't need from the start.

My advice is to put up a list of what you have. Try and put up a few pics of suspected problems areas of your car. And also possibly put out a general concept of how you have done things in the past.

If you are serious about getting into this as a hobby, you are where you need to be. But let's put the brakes on spending up your money until we know you are going to get the products you "need" to meet your near term goals. Just a suggestion from a guy with 16 1 gallon jugs in the corner of his bedroom!
All I really own right now is, Meguiars Gold Class Liquid wax, some blue can of all metal polish from Napa, Eagle one aerosal tire wet, a bucket, a few crappy sponges, and a few crappy chamoies that are terrible. If that helps any ? Thanks once again for all your help guys and I'll check back when I get home from work tonight ..

I was really thinking about purchasing this http://meguiars.com/specials/special...NXTS05&CID=438

Some clay and a few extra microfiber towels and a few wash mitts for wheels/wheel wells..

      Here's a picture of my "shine"..http://photobucket.com/albums/v627/s...ent=IMG020.jpg

I guess there is not to many swirl marks left. I got most of them off so I probably won't have to use Scratch X heres a close up picture of my passenger door http://photobucket.com/albums/v627/s...ent=IMG008.jpg

Cool, ths kit will start you off on the right footNXT Generation™ Collection.

In addition to that I would consider adding the following:
          Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner

          Deep Crystal Polish

          Grit Guard Insert

That kit comes with a brush for your wheels. You may wish to look at his for your tires:

          Versa-Angle Tire Brush

For my wheel wells I just went to walmart and bought a decent soft bristled long handled brush. If you prefer to get another dedicated wash mit for that, great.

You may find Scratch-X may/may not be necessary. You can wash it, clay it up and use the DC#1 & #2 then evaluate whather or not Scratch-X will possibly be needed and can catch that next go around if you so chose. Who knows, maybe by the next time you may start leaning towrad a G-100A anyway.

Whatever you do here, make sure you have a good grasp of washing with the 2 bucket method. There is no sense in doing all the work you are about to undertake if you can't properly maintain it later.

            You may also like Colorx:

            ColorX

It is milder than ScratchX, but 10 times easier to apply. It also makes a fantastic base for Nxt Wax, or any other wax you choose.

That Nxt package is a good selection, the only things missing are Clay and a Paint Cleaner/Polish.

I am not sure if the Advanced Auto parts in your area have/still have accessories on sale, but you might like to check. About a month ago, they had great deals on towels and applicators in my area, and they were on sale till all gone.

After school I went down to the garage and found these things laying around, Meguiars DC-1, Meguiars SR-2, 3m rubbing compound fine cut and 3m Foam Polisihng pad glaze. I also found a Craftsman 3/8 hp 2 speed 6 inch disk sander polisher which needs new pads, so if someonce can point me in the direction of those I'd appreciate it.. I'll post more when I get back from work in 6 hours.

The NXT bundle is a great choice. I'd add scratchX to the mix as well. And maybe some Meguiar's EXTRA for cleaning the wheel wells.

yep, Scratch-X is good to keep around. I am not sure if he will need it for the first go araoun or not but I am sure he will eventually.

Regarding EXTRA. Didn't they discontinue that? Name doesn't ring a bell.

Good choice. Your getting a really good deal on the NXT stuff. I bought my first NXT products for $50, and that only included Liquid NXT, Insane Tire, Glass cleaner, metal polysh and a microfiber.

If I dont get a bundle from a family member I might have to treat myself to some post-christmas loving.

Keep us updated, have fun with your new arsnal.

So, the orders almost in. So far I've got the NXT package, 2 more even coat applicators, 3 more microfiber towels, deep pile chenille wash mit, Quick detail system, and GC Trim detailer. I'm going to pick up ColorX and ScratchX from O' Reilleys sometime.. Any suggestions before I finally order it?

A Meguiar's High Tech foam applicator. They are gentler than the even coat applicators.

Regarding the scratch-x, its always good to have it handy (ie, when your girlfriend decides to sit on your hood, and a dimple in her jeans leaves a 2 inch long scratch!).

I use a foam applicator pad with scratch X. I work it in pretty good and it doesn't seem to make a difference. So would a sock be more effective? Won't it scratch the surface more?
