  • swirls swirls swirls

I've just bought meguiars 3-step products today: the cleaner, polish and carnuaba wax (red busses).
After detailing, I washed the car and again, I had a lot of swirls on my car.
I've also ordered product n° 21 for protection. Will this help avoiding the swirls? Is it right that you have to use n° 21 after you used the 3 steps?
What kind of shampoo of meguiars can I use the best to keep the dark, deep shine?
Can I also use other shampoos with wax in it?

Are you applying everything by hand?

I ve applied the products by hand and afterwards I've spread it with the polishing machine at low RPM. I had even moistened the polish pad a little bit. After the polishing and after applying the carnuaba wax, i always use the microfibre cloths.

You might have better results by using ScratchX by hand... I have used and really like the Deep Crystal System but for swirl remover IMO its not the best option.

You speak of a polishing machine is it a....
        Rotary:

        PC:

        or something like this:

As for #21 I have only used a little bit of it but there are lots of good posts on it. Seems everyone that uses it really likes how it performs.

For Shampoos either: NXT Generation Car Wash or Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner work great! I prefer the Gold Class over NXT but either will work very well.

I' am using the rotary machine.
How do you apply your product to the paint?
First apply by hand and afterwards spread it with the machine?
          OR
applying the product to the pad of the machine and then spread it with the machine on low RPM?

          greets, bert

Ok, now that we have narrowed it down to the machine... I am not all that familiar with a rotary, someone else will have to chime in and guide you a little better than I can with products/processes, I have only used a rotary a hand full of times. I apply all my products with a PC.

Now the I don't believe the Deep Crystal System is formulated to be used with a rotary it is formulated to be used by hand or PC, not sure but that may cause a problem. I do know you want to apply the product with the Rotary, working it in allowing the product to work in and do the job, then remove with a quality cotton towel or microfiber.

              thank you for the info.
I think I'm now applying it by hand.
What kind of product can I us with the rotary machine?

              Kind regards Bert

The 3-step system is very good, but it will only remove very light swirls.

I don't know what is available for you in Belgium, but you will need something from the Professional Product line to correct the paint defects.

That is a good product, it's very mild, so you may have to apply it more than once.

You might be putting the swirls into your car's paint with the rotary. It is important that you use the right products with the right technique in order to get rid of swirls.

Tell us what products you used with a rotary. For example, waxing with a rotary buffer is not recommended.

Are the swirls worse than before you started the detail?

I always used riwax a suiss product and for protection autoglymm.
I've never had swirls, maybe some little but in the sun can't see swirls.
Now if the car is outside he looks ok, but don't put it in the garage, everywhere swirls.

is this just normal under that kind of light?
