  • What is this? Need help!

I thought they were water spots, get some advice of using Vinegar, Polish, no luck. They appear to be under the clear coat embedded on the paint itself. What is this and how to get rid of them safely. I notice them after the Sothern California rain last week, I parked the car outside and have a car cover on at that time, after soaking wet, I remove the car cover form the car and let it dry then rain more and dry again. I do not actually know when and how I got these spots. These are lighter in color comparing the surrounding area and in irregular shape. desperately need help.

    Hi d319,

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

Did you, do you have any wax on the car?

Chances are good it's the clear coat that is stained, the first thing you should try is some ScratchX following the directions in the below thread.

Remember, after using ScratchX you need to apply a wax.

How to remove a defect by hand with ScratchX

    ScratchX

I had the same problem this past summer. The car being a dark shadow gray metalic Mustang GT. I live in an area with alot of cement plants. A quick shower in the afternoon with 90+ temps and it seemed to bake the cement dust right onto the car. Washed the car twice and couldn't get it off. I first had to reclay the car, eventhough it had just been done three weeks earlier. Then used ScrathX, DC polish, and a coat of NXT wax all by hand. The car looked better than the day bought it. I'll add though that it did take some time. About 10 hours over the coarse of three days. Hope this helps you out. Good Luck!

Several more pictures, I have these spots all over my hood, roof and trunk lid, the local detail guy claims he can polish and wax them out, should I have them do it? And thanks a lot for your quick reply. Another question is can I wait a couple of day to work on it or better to have it taken care of asap.

Why not come on down on Sunday and let Mike show you how to do it yourself?

If it’s just from the rains and was under a cover it’s not likely it’s anything so nasty that it needs immediate attention beyond what you already did. It can probably wait a couple days.

                  It works.
Did not try the "Scratch X", just get out the old "Clear Coat Prep" in my garage and tried it on a small area, rub really, really hard. The spot just clear away, won't say totally away but at least 90%. Planning order a Porter Cable 7424 to do the job. I am so released now and again thanks for all your help.
