  • 83 safe for black clear cote?

I have a new black Mustang and have some fine scratches in the clear cote on the hood. I can't feel them with my finger nail and they really only show up in the garage under the light. As I mentioned in a previous post, I tried some 82 with a 8000 pad and PC 7336. The 82 really didn't do much for the fine scratches but really shined up the finish. I think I could do better but I don't know if the 83 would be too harsh for my black finish?

I tried to find some 80, but no one in my area has any.

You really want to try some M80 first,

      Thanks,

I live in north San Diego County and the body shop supply stores don't carry the #80. They seem to carry 82, 83, hand glaze and the stronger polishes, but I will keep looking.

#83 should be OK. If you are concerned, try an out of the way area first. I've used #83 on many black cars and it works well.

I've also use #83 on my son's dark blue mustang and it worked fine.

As Mike said above, it would be good to try #80 first. Meguiars motto is use the least abrasive product to get the job done. You can always move up the abrasive scale later.

There are a number of MOL members in San Diego, perhaps one of them can let you use some of their #80.

something as simple as Scratch X could possibly do the trick. Then follow it with a paint cleaner

If they carry #82, #83 and any other Meguiar's products they can order you in the M8032 Speed Glaze and probably have it in a day.

Just ask the guy or gal behind the counter to order you a bottle, I've never had any problems with getting help from a PBE store.

            p.s.
