Swirl X

Hello everyone.

Yesterday i got my package from ADS which consisted of two items, a bottle of Swirl X and a bottle of M21. So lets see what these products were able to accomplish!

Product: SwirlX

Smell: This product has a very nice smell to it, kind of like a minty Peach. It didnt smell like a real chemical like product, which is good if your using it for an extended period of time

i like this photo, cool background

Before:

Flash is on in this Pic

I used a Meguiars Hi Tech Applicator Pad to work the product in

Consistency: SwirlX is a thick product, not as thick as Ultimate Compound but more along the lines of M09 in terms of consistency. Which isnt a bad thing but you have to kinda squeeze it out of the bottle, so no problem with that as i feel you use less product.

The product is now in action:

Working Time: I spread the product out into the taped off section and worked the product in using circles and straight lines. SwirlX was easy to work in and the whole 60 - 70 seconds i worked it in was with moderate pressure and the product didnt dry up at all and stayed wet while i was working it in so this made application easier. ( i think i said that right)

After one application:

It removed a fair amount of the swirls and scratches but i felt i could do better by working it in with a little more passion and by working it in longer so i gave it another go.

Second application:

The second application took almolst all the swirls out but there was a tiny bit left of swirling.

Sealant: I decided to finish it off with M21 2.0, which is by the way a great product and its blue

The Final Result after M21:

Conclusion: I would say 97% of the swirls and scratches were removed thanks to Swirl X. SwirlX seems more ideal for doing the whole car rather than Scracth X 2.0. It can also be used after you use Ultimate Compound for insurance that you removed anything UC left behind. I also noticed SwirlX leaves behind a nice high gloss finish, i noticed this before i applied M21, it left the paint darker and gave that ready to apply a wax look. I hope this review helps and i hope i did everythng right, I am not a Pro by any means and I am sure there are plently of people here at MOL who have the skill to use this product better than i can, but in the end i think this is an excellent product and will be using this product on my truck when i do my full Spring detail.

As always, questions, comments and concerns are more than welcome

i know, i have been doing a lot of reviews lately. I just love the new 09 products and Meguiars in general

it took a lot less times because of fewer applications and a little less passion, this product is definitly a keeper on my shelf

Re: Swirl X Review!

I recently purchased a Black 2007 Cadillac STS. As you can imagine the previous owner did not take a lot of care in maintaining the body finish. I purchased the Swirl X product in hopes I could recover the finish without an expensive detailing bill. After an entire day and plenty of sore muscles, the resultant finish is unbelieveable! The car now looks in showroom condition. It actually looks wet. All swirl marks and light scratches literally disappeared. I finished the Swirl X treatment up with a coat of NXT wax which enriched the finish even further. I did not realize the sealant product was available. I did not see it at my local part store. Quick question for anyone out there then, can I apply the sealant now over the wax application? I really want to try and preserve all the work. I highly recommend this product. Next week I plan to do my 4 Runner.

Re: Swirl X Review!

I am definately glad to hear that news. I just picked up the Ultimate Compound and SwirlX today at the local Wal-Mart and plan on using it as soon as the weather gets a tad bit warmer. Hopefully my results will be as good as that.

Good news Tim!! Your NXT 2.0 is essentially the same product as that professional sealant mentioned above. It's just marketed towards professionals in the other packaging, and slightly different formulated for application by machine, but you have essentially the same protection. NXT isn't really a wax, it's a sealant, so you are set. Sounds like your car is gorgeous. I'd just keep your NXT on it every few weeks. If you ever start to get some above surface contaminants stuck to paint (you likely have some now even), you could clay as your first step.

Oh, if you hate the light dust that lands on these black cars, whenever you like you can take a couple microfiber towels and some quick detailer or ultimate quick detailer and wipe the dust off.

Welcome too, glad to see your first post.
