  • Trip out West: Newport, Marconi, and Oregon Coast

    Hey everyone,

Well, I finally made it back home after the trip out West. I had a great time. It was especially nice to meet everyone at the Thursday night garage.

So, I thought I would compile some pictures from the trip.

On Friday, Kevin Brown and I went around Newport Beach. (Kevin has one clean and perfect Chevy Diesel!) The weather was just right and it was really cool to drive by the beachfront houses. Also, there were an abundance of high end car dealerships.

Later on, Kevin and I met up with Jason Rose over at the Marconi Museum.

The the windshield wipers of the Vector:

If an XJ220 wasn't good enough, here is a tuned model

The Cizeta-Moroder. It has a sixteen cylinder engine (V16T) and the body style was copied for the Lamborgini Diablo.

    Aston Martin Zagato

Jaguar XK180 - Even though it looks a bit like the Aston Martins, they still should have made the car. The glass front wind curves around and looks amazing.

Kevin really liked this detailing caravan next to Jason Rose's truck.

I really had a great time at the Marconi Museum. It was a pleasure meeting Kevin and Jason. Both of theses guys have such a vast knowledge of detailing, but are extremely personable at the same time.

Thanks again Kevin for showing me around town!

After the class on Saturday, it was a two hour plane ride up to Portland. Here are some pics of the three day hiking adventures.

What a vacation... Who knows, maybe I can do it again next year!

That looks like Haystack Rock, were you in the Newport Beach to Seaside area of the Oregon Coast?

10 points for Mike! Those are the two rocks next to the Haystack rock on Cannon Beach.

We flew in to Portland and drove to Lincoln City on the first day. Later on, we drove to Garibaldi (the tiny town with a G on the mountain). On the way, we stopped at the Tillamook Cheese factory.

Thought I recognized them... I lived in Seaside, Oregon for about 7 years.

Nice place, when I lived there you used to be able to drive on the beach unless it was posted, pretty cool.

I'll see if I can find a big enough suit case that I can fit into. Just check me and I'll be good. (Hope they load me right side up.)

Great photos Chris! Looks like you had a blast! I still have to drool through the other vacation photo thread.

Unless you weigh under 50lbs, I'll get charged for having overweight luggage. Sigh.

This trip, I only had three delays and one night in a hotel because of airline delays...
