  • 2008 Cadillac CTS DETAILED

This weekend I worked on a Cadillac that was in need of claying and wax to clean her up which was fairly an easy one. Upon arrival I inspected the car and being that it was a pearl white color it was tough to see any swirls at first glance out in the sun. Under controlled light I was able to see the paint and to my surprise very little swirls.

    Process:
    Wash
    Clay
M105 and M205 on a few spots with rotory that had minor scuffs. Wetsanded an area that had a scratch
    Topped with NXT 2.0
    Hyper dressing on the tires
    Time: 5 hrs

I'll do a before and an immediate after on some pics to see the difference a little better. It was tough to capture defects on this color paint.

    After

Looks like there was a bit too much tire dressing before.

After the wash the paint was a bit gritty.

There was a scuff on the passenger side rear bumber.

Cleaned up with M205 on a W-8006 pad

Door handle area had the typical nail scratches which were removed with M105

    After

Trunk area was brushed using a med-hard bristled brush then vaccumed.

Door jambs and trunk jambs were cleaned and Klasse AIO applied

Muffler tips cleaned with NXT polish.

Interior was then cleaned up starting with the pedals

The leather seats were a bit dirty.

Here is a 50/50 of the driver side seat.

Wheels were cleaned with P21s tires and wheel wells were dressed with Hyper Dressing

    NXT 2.0 removed

One of the last things I do is clean the glass. The previous detailer or car wash had left the windows streaked so I made sure to go over the windows a few times to ensure no streaks were left behind. The owner came out to ensure all was to their satisfaction. Used Meguiars glass cleaner from the Detailer line. Yours truly

I used a highly diluted APC+ followed by Leather conditioner.

              Nice job Jessie!

White can be a challenge. It does seem like claying a white car can really bring back the whiteness. I think white often just needs to be cleaned really well.

I did a white 98 Audi A6 a couple of years ago, doing only clay and wax and the owner said that the car changed colors.....back to a nice white.

Really nice and considering how difficult to capture white.

Looks like a real good car and it wears white well.

Excellent work! Great reflections. White is really a challange for me as it's tough to tell when the polish has been worked enough. I usually polish in the garage for that reason. Outside, I can't tell what I'm doing!!

I really like the new CTS's...Hopefully the price on the '09 CTS-V will drop like it has in on previous year model and I can pick one up for cheap when my current lease is up.

Thanks Karburn. White definitely is tough out in sunlight for me too. Aside from seeing where the polish has been worked it is blinding.
