  • new car, new to detailing

    Hi,
I'm new to detailing and i have just taken delivery of a new white vauxhall zafira. What is the best polish/wax to use? I have just done the car with the Crystal carnuba wax. I don't know what the best approach to take is.
    Thanks

Did you let the dealer detail it for you?

        You polished with the Carnauba?

The car might need claying with. Clay bar.

        I like the baggie test

Not sure if I can post Auto Geek videos on here.

But what you do is wash your car and dry it. Then with a clear plastic bag you run your hand on the paint surface. If it feels rough then, yes it needs to be clayed.

Meguiar's sells a nice kit that I have and use.

Go on youtube type in Auto Geek Baggie test so you can see what I am talking about.

Something like Clay, Ult. Polish, then Wax would be a good process.

Re: new car, new to detailing

I would always clay it no matter if its new.. Think about this, once it leaves the factory it get transport by truck, rail, or both. Think about all the elements it has been exposed to. Then how looking it has sat on the lot before it was purchased.

Claying is just something I always do no matter what.

Have you clayed at all in the past?

I ask because I thought I knew what smooth paint was, until I clayed.

If you mean a synthetic product, then yes, there is the Ult. Wax, Nxt Wax, and #21 to pick from.
