  • Mustang 5.0 Black Polished to perfection

This is a new customer I got a few weeks ago. He hired me for a wash because he "had it detailed last week" for $100. When I got there I said "yup, you got a $100 detail". I pointed out what the other detailer did and what I could do. He Hired me to polish it after I got back from SEMA.

It was all scratched up but not in bad shape at all so Sophia (my Rupes 21) and I got to work on this Horse to get it the way it should be.

Hyper Wash, Speedy Prep Wash Mit, Sophia, MFFP with M205, MFFP with D301 FTW!

She was dirty but not to bad for 3 weeks

    Some reflection but no pop

The trunk lid was heavily swirled and the spoiler was a big mess

Someone had a grudge against this poor thing. "what did it ever do to you?" Gesh, aggressive washing at it finest

    Hoodie scratches

I got a new hat at SEMA so I had a hard choice to make when it came to selecting a hat

I also got some product samples from SEMA so some testing was on the menu today.

After a quick tape job and a towel for the windows me and Sophia got to work

these "vents" were scratched up pretty good so I was going to have to get a little agresive with them. Taping is a must when working in tight places.

    aaaaaaa, I LOVE POLISHING PAINT!!!!!!!!!
I'm trying to get my pics into the Rupes Calender so I've been take these kinds of pics on my jobs

As I was polishing the roof I spotted this cool reflection of my van, not to bad eh?

Polishing done, Finishing wax done, reflection shot done

The sun was setting fast so no direct sun shots. I'm going to have to finish earlier now in order to get those sun shots

Trunk and spoiler came out very nice

Now this Mustang looks like it should.

      Nice work. Great turnaround.

      Two comments...

1.) Ford orange peel on their black vehicles is quite crazy...(however, I guess that can be said of all domestic manufacturers... but I feel Ford's is the worst concerning black.)

2.) How did you polish the vents on the hood?

I got my third black Acura TL in March (2007, 2010, 2013) and the orange peel is horrific on the metal panels. The bumpers are quite acceptable, with heavy metallic as well. The metal looks like a different color almost, lots of orange peel, much less metallic and looks hazy almost compared to bumper paint.

3" MFC pad on my G100 and by hand. They were just as bad as the spoiler was. I guess the "car wash" guy figured they needed an extra "scrubbing". Just sad how people abuse cars that are hired to take care of them. This car is now in my care and will look like this for as long as I get paid.

                          Mario,

Many thanks for the picture and explanation on the polishing of the hood vents.

What's up with the spoiler? Can you wet sand that or is that just as good as it gets on the plastic?

Orange peel is all about angles and distance among other things. I'm sure there are viewing angles on the spoiler where it looks just fine.
