  • UW cure time & layering?

Is there a required cure time for UW between coats? Also, i'm assuming there are very little cleaners in it so can it be layered?

Yeah, 2 thin coats are recomended.

It is nice to wait 15-20 minutes between coats, 12 hours or more for best looks.

Re: UW cure time & layering?

Hi, I think I need help down here with the application of Ultimate Wax.. I've used Meguiar's Waxes: Carnauba, Cleaner Wax, GC, GCCP ,NXT, NXT 2.0.. I did couple smearing with the GC and NXT 2.0, but with UW, I did the whole car smearing (black Car)... I tried hand application.. is there anybody who got the same problem? Please tell me the solution and thanks for your help..

Does it help to enhance the gloss and shine on my Pearl White Legacy if I add layers of the UW?

2 thin coats does help give an even look. Hard to say how the gloss will change. Have you done the other cleaning, claying type steps?

The Ult. Wax applies differently than the other waxes. Were you using the liquid or paste?

Yes. Washed and clayed, followed by machine glaze + swirl remover then seal with 2 coats of UW.

I love the smoothness of the UW an it's shine but I wanted more... Therefore, I let the UW 'cured, at least 12hrs then I wipe it with #135 and top it up with UW. I am into my 4th coats of UW. Just wonder how is the effect...

Well, you would want the swirl remover first, then machine glaze.

But dont really think you will get any more shine going from 2 coats to 4.

Yeah... that one seems to be the most different.

I believe people have been getting good results applying a very thin coat to a panel or two, and then removing, instead of doing the whole car, waiting, removing.

Re: UW cure time & layering?

Just so that people don't confuse "dry time" and "cure time": dry time is the time between the application of the product and the wipe off of the haze, usually between 5 and 45 minutes, depending on product, temp, humidity, etc; cure time is the time between wiping off the haze and the polymers fully crosslinking and bonding, usually between 12 and 24 hours.

Batmobile, the application of Ultimate Wax liquid is unique in our line up. We're finding that if you have a streaking issue it's best to apply the product to just a single panel and then wipe off after no more than 3 to 5 minutes dry time. If you still have any mild streaking left, a quick once over with a quick detailer or even a light mist of plain water, and then wipe with a microfiber towel will take care of it.

dhl1010, we don't buy into the concept of layering in the sense of creating an ever increasing film build through multiple applications of a wax or sealant. Our recommendation is to apply two thin coats just to ensure uniform coverage and appearance. Beyond that, we don't believe you'll gain anything in appearance or protection.

Indeed... I am into my 5th layers (at least 12hrs curing time in-between) and I really cannot tell any different.. Should I top it up with Gold Class™ Carnauba Plus Paste Wax instead to have more gloss??

We think you already know the answer to this...... you've applied Ultimate Wax 5 times already and can't see any difference. We really doubt you'd see much of a difference after applying Gold Class other than maybe, maybe, whatever difference in appearance Gold Glass yields vs Ultimate Wax to begin with.

Hmm.. Is there anyway to add the depth of the gloss?
