I have some hard water spots on the back bumper from a sprinkler and someone told me to dilute vinegar and warm water and apply it to the spots. if I do this, is the vinegar going to damage the clear coat?

I don't think the vinegar will hurt anything. Usually it will take more than this to remove most water spots or etchings, below is an article that discusses this further.
Type 1 & Type 2 Water Spots -
If the spots are etched in the paint you''ll probobly need a DACP to remove them. i have etched spots alover and nothing i've tried will remove them. My next step is to try some DACP.2005 Nissan Altima 2.5SComment
