Please post your questions to our discussion forum

I feel bad for posting this, but each day I have people who have discovered our forum, read through it, and then decide to personally e-mail me their questions or send them to me via a Private Message.

While I would love to answer everyone's questions via e-mail, it defeats the entire purpose of the forum. Besides that, if I answer questions via e-mail, only one set of eyes see the answers. If I answer questions via the forum, potentially hundreds, even thousands of people can benefit from the questions and answers. This is a better way to leverage everyone's time and my typing.

I truly appreciate the trust people place in Meguiar's name and the time and effort taken they take to write an e-mail with their questions, but due to the time it takes to think-out and write specific answers to a wide spectrum of questions, often times that include formatting, (all hand coded, for example the word formatting has four code tags to make it appear bold, italic, underlined and darkblue), as well as including click-able links with pictures, it is impossible to try to answer questions both on the forum and via e-mail. Since the forum is the best venue for asking and receiving answers, please if at all possible, post your questions to our discussion forum.

Most questions can be asked in the Detailing 101 Forum.

If you are new to our forum, before you can post a question you must first register with our forum and become a member. There is no cost involved, just a simple form to fill out.

If you have any trouble registering with our forum, then you are encouraged to send me an e-mail and I will help you to successfully register so that you can actively participate on the Meguiar's Online Discussion Forum.

To help out for those of you who have never registered with a discussion forum, here is an tutorial with pictures that will show you how easy it is to do.

Just a note to anyone that's new to our forum, after you've registered and become a member, if you're not sure where to ask your question, then most questions can be asked in the Detailing 101 Forum.

Thought I would share this new "Form Letter" I use now for questions sent to me via e-mail. If you're reading this and you have received this in an e-mail reply from myself, I would like to encourage you to register with our forum and please post your questions to the forum.

If you're unsure where to post your questions, then click the below link and post them in the Detailing 101 Forum.

                Detailing 101 Forum

Here's the form letter I use when I receive an e-mail with questions that should be posted to our forum...

You know I really appreciate it when people take the time to send me a letter asking me for advice and if and when they do I always take the time to reply and below you find my answers and suggestions to your questions. (See below

However, please understand that because the forum is open to the public for all to read, (You cannot post until you register and become a member), that a lot of people will read the information and then instead of registering with the forum and asking their questions on the forum, they will simply locate my e-mail address and send their questions to me via e-mail.

If you step back and think about this for a moment, I think you'll understand that it's all about "Typing Time". If someone posts their questions to the forum, chances are very good that others have the same types of questions; then when I answer them on the forum, many eyes can benefit from the replies I type. If I type up answers in an e-mail, then only one set of eyes benefit from the typing time.

This has become such a repeated e-mail that I finally, (against my will), posted this to the TOP of the forum homepage.

Here's the link to the actual link to the thread...

Please post questions to the forum...

Here you can see where the link is placed on the forum homepage

I would like to thank everyone that reads this and then registers with our forum and asks their questions on the forum instead of an e-mail.

                Thank You!

It's cool... I send a few e-mails out each day with the link to this thread...

Right now my finger tips actually hurt on my right hand from typing so much today and last night. I'll be in meetings on Wednesday and of course at Open Garage Wednesday Night so this gives me a good break away from the keyboard.

                        Hi Gary,

                        Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

Your question would have probably got more attention and would have probably been answered had it been posted in a forum for questions on detailing like this one,

                        Detailing 101

In a nutshell, repeated washing of any surface or material will usually tend to dry it out... What you want to do is after you wash it is to condition and protect it with a quality product formulated for the surface or material you're working on.

                        Check this one out...

                            Hi browneyes,

                            Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

I know when you first join a forum that it can be kind of confusing, but there are actual specific forums for questions like yours. The thread you have just replied to is a thread that asks people to post their question to the forum instead of sending them to me via e-mail for the reasons outlined in the first post of this thread. It's not actually the place to ask your questions.

Click on the link below and it will take you to the Detailing 101 forum which is the perfect place to copy and paste your question by clicking on the New Topic button in the upper right hand corner of the page.

Here's the link to the Detailing 101 Forum

By the way, you can find the entire list of different types of forums by clicking on the word Forums which is the first text link on the horizontal green navigation bar that runs across the top of each page.
