  • New Ultimate Wheel Clnr vs Hot Rims All Wheel & Tire Clnr

    Hello,
How does the new UL Wheel Cleaner compare in aggressiveness to Hot Rims All Wheel & Tire Cleaner (G9524)? More or less aggressive? Also, is Ultimate All Wheel Cleaner safe for un-coated aluminum and billet alum wheels?
    Thanks!

Re: New Ultimate Wheel Clnr vs Hot Rims All Wheel & Tire Clnr

The aggressiveness between the two products is..... different. Hot Rims Wheel & Tire Cleaner is a high alkaline cleaner so it's fantastic on both tires and wheels, but it is NOT safe on bare high polished aluminum, anodized, or powdercoated finishes (among others). Ultimate All Wheel Cleaner is a pH balanced formula that contains an iron reactive ingredient that does an amazing job of breaking down brake dust and other iron particulate, changing color as it does so. The gel like consistency means it clings to the wheel surface for several minutes, giving that ingredient time to do it's job more effectively. We have historically called out a dwell time of 15 to 30 seconds for our various wheel cleaners, but with this new one that dwell time can be extended to several minutes - as long as you don't let the product self dry on the wheel. We also recommend spraying this on to a dry wheel, rather than wetting the wheel first. Agitation may still be needed in the worst situations. We've tested this extensively on bare high polished billet wheels, anodized and powdercoated surfaces, old surfaces that have already been compromised, etc.

A beginner versus a professional is of little importance. The real question is what finish the particular wheels are; however it could certainly be said that the Ultimate All Wheel Cleaner is safe on nearly every wheel type and the Hot Rims Wheel & Tire Cleaner is not safe for many aftermarket and some even some OEM wheel types. If there is ever a question it would be safer to choose the Ultimate All Wheel Cleaner rather than risking damage to your wheels.
