  • Leather peeling

Hi gang, question regarding this leather seat on a Mercedes - I applied some leather cleaner/conditioner on this seat, which felt very rough when wiping with a microfiber cloth. Upon further inspection, I saw the seat had what seems to be like a matte-finish on top of the genuine leather. This finish can be peeled off, almost like a plasti-dip. Has anyone run into this issue before and know how to fix it?

Looks like the coating is peeling off? Appears the shiny, black is peeling off leaving the unfinished leather exposed.

Looks like an attempt at a repair. If you are not the original owner, the prior owner or dealership may have attempted to cover up some wear or damage. Based on your budget you can seek out a leather specialist or search out a used skin from a salvage yard. If you plan on keeping the vehicle and are not happy with the appearance you might want to opt for one of the above solutions. if you are not too particular, then you could attempt a quick DIY fix (dye and respray a topcoat) but as you see if not done properly it will not last.
