  • Washing/detailing in the day... without any overhead protection...

I live in Florida and we have a carport but it only fits one car. Inside the carport is really tight so its hard to move around and wash/detail my car so I park behind my wife and she parks in the carport.
It's blistering hot here all day.... Washing at night doesnt work cause the bugs are awful at night here and just latch onto the newly washed car. Plus I cant see anything lol....
Washing early isnt an option really because the sun is not fully up yet but it's still humid as hell and I have to rush.
Are there any types of coverings or canopies that arent a ton of money that people use to setup and do their wash/dry/detail work during the day?

I always wash early in the morning. If you practice good techniques (e.g., two-bucket wash method, using multiple MF mitts/towels), it doesn't matter that much if you can't see 100%. Keep up a weekly wash regimen, and your car will stay clean and nicely maintained. You may also invest in portable LED light setups, if you really do need more lighting.

I saw this product at Costco once and it looked pretty nice:

It looks like the above link is only a "replacement cover." Not sure if they still have the whole unit itself or not.

As long as your car has only light dirt or dust, try Optimum No Rinse (ONR). The great thing is that you can clean and dry panel by panel, before it has a chance to dry on its own.

If it's too dirty and you need to use soap, keep all the panels as wet as possible while applying and rinsing. After rinsing off, follow up each panel with ONR before towel drying. This way, you should be able to safely re-wet and dry each panel without having to spray.
