So I've been using Meg's M40 on my Extang Trifecta for about 4 years now; sometimes more frequently than others. Always at least a few times per year, typically at least a few times per summer and sometimes up to weekly. Seems to work well as the cover is still a nice rich black color, mostly. But a couple problems which I am curious can be attributed to either using M40 or not using M40 frequently enough... or something else entirely, I suppose.
1. Vinyl cracking. The vinyl fabric appears to be cracking and wearing out at the flex points where this cover folds. Has been that way for a little while but just beginning to get worse.
2. Sun bleached webbing with failing stitching. When folded up, the cover clips into some quick release buckles which otherwise spend their entire lives sitting out on the top of the cover by the rear window. These buckles are sun bleached and the webbing which attaches them to the front of the cover is sun bleached and almost starting to dry rot. Stitches holding it to cover have broken down and now they frequently flip foward against the cab and rattle.
I have reached out to Extang as well but I'm on the edge of my seat to hear about thoughts on the use of M40 as related here.
