  • help with a red shiraz a3 sedan 2016

hi guys, im working on this car, but it seems it has been neglected way too long, since the hood has a lot of random scratches, the trims are dull and some other stuff, the car is a 2016 so as you can see this is not an old car.

    here are the pictures.

How can i remove this? i don't feel it in the nail

this is the hood, once i fix the hood i can do the rest of the car since it is almost the same.

Thge trims looks "gray" instead of black, also they have a bit of "damage"

    Available products:

    m105, m101, m205, scratch X, m83, m80, some mirror glaze 3m
Pads: megs black, yellow, burgundry, mf Cutting pad, some other brand soft to cut pads
    Tools: Rotary and GG DA
if you look the car with no detail is not that thrased however if you take a closer look you can see all the damage.

    Thank you all

I could be wrong, yet the first image looks like a repaired area. It looks like sanding marks below the color coat.

The others look like deep RIDS. The may reduce some, yet not come out fully. Some are shallower and should come out.
That metallic wine is a nice color.

I'm hoping the lowered black late 60's Riviera in the background is yours.

I would agree with Old Bear, it is tough to tell, but the first picture does look like sanding marks underneath the clear coat or some sort of weird texture in the paint. Compounds alone on a rotary or DA will not repair these if we are correct.

As far as the other scratches, they appear to be physical contact type scratches compared to the typically more shallow swirl marks. Another word for these is RIDS, which means "Random Isolated Deep Scratches."

When addressing deep scratches in small areas, typcially these are more stubborn to remove, so my first approach would be to use a more aggressive set up. Based on what you have, I would probably run your Meguiar's DA Microfiber Cutting Disc along with our M105 Ultra Cut Compound or M101 Foam Cut Compound. These compounds paired on our DA Microfiber Cutting Discs have proven to have some serious cutting ability on Dual Action Polishers.

If you choose to use your DA with the above recommendation, since you will be working in a much more confined area, here are some tips to keep in mind:

Small section, DA Polisher with our DA Microfiber Cutting Disc paired with some of our most aggressive compounds are great "tools" to have in the toolbox for situations like address RIDS. There are some things to keep in mind:

      • Apply less passes
      • In general, use much quicker arm speed
      • In general, don't use as much pressure, especially if you are used to using moderate to heavy pressure on a DA as many users do
      • Heat build can increase when using this type of approach, watch your heat build up and make sure the panel is not getting hot. Slightly Warm is OK. Hot is not.

      Hope this helps

To me, that looks like a repaired (repainted) area that wasn't sanded sufficiently, then immediately buffed and polished. Leaving an uneven, textured but shiny area. I've experienced that, particularly the insufficient sanding then compounding, polish and wax. How do I know? I was the one who inflicted the horrible/pathetic sanding marks. I was in a rush, so even with the insufficient or incomplete sanding steps, I compounded our car's problem area. And Voila, same issue as the pics above.

Maybe more thorough sanding (all the necessary grit of sandpaper) by a professional followed by proper compounding and polishing will really make that sand paint smooth again.

For exterior glass, you can actually use clay and compound. The clay should work well to remove whatever is bonded to the top of the glass, a compound will work well for removing any light stains. You can even machine compound the glass. We also have our new Perfect Clarity Glass Care Kit which features our new glass polishing compound & sealant. Unfortunately I do not believe this is available in Mexico yet.

For the gunk in the cracks & crevices, I would recommend getting a very very soft bristled brush to use on these areas. Use the soft brush with some car wash soap, and this should work well to clean. You can also use a mild all purpose cleaner or de-greaser, but you increase the chance of staining on the paint. For the one crack you highlight in the second video underneath the trim, a bamboo stick/skewer covered with a microfiber towel may also work well to remove the build up.

For exterior trim, my vote would be ultimate black..

What would be the combo to remove the "haze" left by m101 on the mf pad? i tried yellow-m205, black -m205 (all on the DA polisher), but i cant make it work, slow, medium, fast arm speed, light pressure, etc i guess my techique is wrong, this is the defect im trying to remove.

what am i doing wrong?, i left the same defect on the shiraz
