Is there anything that can be applied before a trip that will make removing bugs easier? I do use a bug and tar remover which helps but still requires effort. For those of you who are familiar with Klamath Falls, OR the bugs are incredible and the wife drives down to CA every other month to see her kids and grandkids. I don't look forward to getting her car back after a round trip through Klamath Falls especially with the car sitting for a week allowing the bugs to dry out and harden.

    Thanks.

The Florida guys on www.elcaminocentral.com have things called Love Bugs that they deal with. It seems that the season varies and runs about 6 weeks.
One thing they do, is to put a heavy wax on right before taking the car on a trip. This might be applied to the most likely areas to be affected. It makes up a sacrificial protection layer, that they know they will have to remove after the trip. Actually, they may do this prior to a car show, and then clean up at the show and add an extra protection layer before leaving the show. They actually post warnings on the www.elcaminocentral.com site, when the Love Bug season starts. It varies by a few weeks each year.

If you like microwave popcorn, pop a bag and then watch Junkman's 1 hour video. Sarge helped train young military members to be safe. So his approach includes: Tell them what you are going to tell them, tell them and then tell them what you told them. The PopCorn makes it all OK. Besides, tonight's nightly news is going to almost be a rerun of last nights, so this is a better to spend the time with JunkMan.

In this one hour video, I go into detail about how I remove love bugs (that commit suicide on your front bumper and mirrors), and bird droppings that have sa...

Have heard the spray-on "Pam" anti-stick cooking spray works as a deterrent. Spray on before your wife goes for the drive.

We would also recommend applying a fresh coat of your favorite wax prior to a trip. This can make a difference when trying to remove.

Another approach is if you can, try to address them as soon as possible, even while on the trip. Our G3626 Ultimate Waterless Wash & Wax is one of our favorites to keep in the vehicle for long trips.

As mentioned, if I have just detailed my car or truck prior to taking a trip, I'll try to throw a waterless/spray on cleaner in for bug cleanup after arrival. Megs UWWA has worked very well for me in the past. I also use a certain non-Megs product which has been around for a good long while now.

Thanks for the tips. I'll try the Pam and the coat of wax. The problem is the wife goes down to see her kids and the car sits for a week before she drives back so the bugs get to dry on the paint which makes it even harder to clean up. I haven't a chance to get bugs removed when she arrives. Hmmm, maybe I can pay the grandkids to remove them?? Not sure I want 11 yr olds cleaning the paint...
