    Meguiar's Headlight Restoration Products

Clouded, yellowed, & oxidized headlights are all too common these days. Not only do headlights in these conditions diminish the look of a vehicle, they can also be a safety concern when driving at night. New replacement headlight lenses can be a few hundred dollars or in some cases thousands of dollars per headlight lens assembly. This article will give you some insight on why headlights oxidize, and also how a user has the ability to restore them with Meguiar's headlight restoration products.

Headlight lenses from new come with with a high UV inhibiting clear coat paint which is applied to the exterior of the headlight lens assembly. A combination of UV degradation from the environment as well as micro pitting from the road take a toll on the coating over time, and lead to it diminishing, which leads to a clouded, yellowed, & oxidized headlight. Most of the time these defects are on the exterior of the headlight lens assembly. It is much less common to encounter defects on the inside of the headlight lens itself.

Meguiar's headlight care products utilize specialized cleaners, abrasive technologies, and synthetic polymer protectant coatings. These work to remove the oxidized appearance & restore the lens assembly back to clear clarity.

Choosing which Meguiar's Headlight Restoration Product to use comes down to personal preference of working by hand or power drill, and also the severity of the oxidation on the headlights.

Meguiar's G12310 PlastX Clear Plastic Cleaner & Polish can be applied by hand for light oxidation. All that is needed is an applicator/towel and a little elbow grease. It can also be applied with a dual action polisher or rotary polisher for even more cleaning ability. PlastX is also included & used in the process of both our G2960 Basic Headlight Restoration Kit & G2980 Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration Kit.
