Weird haze with DA

Hello,

I had a question about the problems i have polishing, i own a vw golf mk7 and i wanted to remove minor swirls so i grabbed my krauss da polisher paired up with a green hexlogic pad and Ultimate Polish. so i polish a section 2 by 2 area on speed settings 6 with no pressure, it looked flawless so i continue to do the whole car. after i polished my car i used Carpro eraser to seal the car. and i noticed these weird haze came up.. i've tried repolishing it with a white hexlogic pad and ultimate polish and not using eraser and it just shows that haze again after 2-3 washes.

Welcome to MOL.

How are you priming the pad?

Not sure exactly what polisher is being used but you could always try going to a speed of with a polish 4-5.

Have you tried to compound the area? The reason I ask is because you may have hard paint and ultimate polish may not be enough to remove those defects.

Eraser is not a sealer of any kind. It is a paint prep to remove polishing oils off the surface. So which product are you actually using?

Towel marring is another possibility if low quality towels are being used.

Have you tried to compound the area? The reason I ask is because you may have hard paint and ultimate polish may not be enough to remove those defects.

i'm using the Krauss DB-5800 S V2 900w, what is the difference between polishing on speed 6 and speed 4-5?

i primed the pad with dotting the whole pad with product and then i proceeded to message it into the pad, then i just added 5 small dots and started spreading it out on the panel.

i did not try to compound the area, i have some m105 laying around but i'm scared to use it since i dont have a paint depth gauge, but im pretty sure the paint is soft because it swirls easily.

i'm aware that eraser is not a sealant, i meant i used eraser to prep the surface to put a layer of chemical guys jetseal on followed by pete's 53 paste wax.

i'm using the AutoBrite Fluffy Microfiber Dryer towels but they are 1 year old and i wash them correctly but they feel a little rough, maybe i should buy new ones and give it another shot?

Welcome to MOL. Can you try to capture a regular picture using a light to reflect the defect? This will help us further evaluate what is going on.

i've tried my best to capture this on camera, but its hard to do this because you can only notice this when you're looking out of the focus of the light.

my guess is that these are towel marks but i did carefully wipe it off but hey its just me guessing.

The reason to go at a slower speed is due to generating heat. Which will dry out the product faster and could cause one to dry buff.

With regards to priming the pad, once you prime the face of the pad and covering it with product, try putting like 1-2 drops of product. You don't need much since there is a lot of product on the pad already. After that you may need 3-4 drops of product.

Are you cleaning your pads frequently as you go? Are you swapping pads out regularly?

Do you have a softer pad (finishing pad)?

Try some different towels as well.

I use those green pads to cut with. I find them too aggressive to finish polish with.

I follow with blue pads to refine the finish. They're also a great general purpose polishing pad.

When I finish with M205, or Ultimate Polish I use firm pressure, and use speed 3 or 4 on a Porter-Cable 7424. I usually only need 2 or three passes.

If I'm removing swirls, or "cleaning up" the paint with the M205/UP + blue pad, I'll usually go to speed 5.

i do clean my pad each panel, i rinse them in the sink and then i dry them on my da polisher. i do not have a softer cutting pad, i only have these pads


i used the medium polish one as last and it had no difference from the green in terms of the white horizontal swirls.

Hey

Some detailer told me i should be using the low pile microfibre to buff polish off so i went ahead and tried. i did buff very carefully and the white lines seems to stay but change direction.

(i watched a tutorial online and he put 5 pea sized drops polish on the pad and mists it 1x with water and he then proceeded to polish i just copied this method with UP and the white pad from above.)

So now i've finally got a good video where its very clear to see and i think you guys now can see what i'm doing wrong to get this defect.
