I understand your issue well with two black cars of my own. In my case I try to wash later in the day when I can hide beside my garage, however when I do wash in the sun, I keep the car wet all the time, not allowing anything to dry. When finish washing, I run water from the hose gently, without the the nozzle, and most of the water sheets off. Then I can blot what is left or drive it into the garage and blow what is remaining off with am electric blower. In my opinion, it is not the brand of soap causing the water spots, but just hard water drying on your car.

The ultimate solution would be to use only filtered water (basic house filtration unit). 'Soft' water will not leave water spots. You can also use old expired drinking water filters , they work pretty well but due to the very limited flow you'll need a large bucket for the pressure hose.

You can also try washing / drying one panel at a time instead of the entire car. E.g. Roof, then hood and boot lid, then the sides an so on.

I would agree that about all I can think of would be some type of water filtration.

I have always had good luck using either D-115 mixed at 8:1 or Meguiar's Ult. Quik Detailer and a lightly damp microfiber cloth if the water dries and creates spots.

Simply mist the UQD or D115 on the area and lightly wipe it down with the dampened microfiber. Just keep wringing the cloth out when it gets more than just damp and it works wonders.

FYI I'm using 3M aqua pure filtration unit in the house. , the flow is around 20GPM with 100000 gallon/yr capacity .

There're other benefits but basically it can turn hard water into 'soft' water, so no more nasty boiler and drum residuals and soft water can better dissolve and react with chemicals so all the washing powder and car wash soap work noticeably better and will not leave waterspots in the sun .

I owned black vehicles for over thirty years. I never washed any of them in direct sunlight. I frequently washed them at night under artificial lighting.

My local water is full of minerals so I do the following: As others have suggested, I try to keep the paint cool and wet during the wash. Flow the water off using low pressure then blow dry with a leaf blower or air compressor. I follow with a QD or D156/UQW. I like M135 Synthetic Spray Detailer, M34 Final Inspection or D155 Last Touch as a drying aid. I believe M135 has been dropped but you can also use UQD from the consumer line. M135 / UQD seem to perform better in direct sun than M34 or D155, IMO. You could also use D156 Synthetic Spray Wax / UQW as a follow-up to your wash after drying to remove any water spots. They are full sun friendly too and provide added slickness that may have been lessened by the wash.
