  • How old before I should throw out and replace wax?

    Hi all,

I have had a bottle of Meguiars NXT wax and a couple other brand waxes for a multiple years now. One bottle has never been opened while others have been open for years. Is there a general rule of thumb on waxes, or any products, as far as well it is a good idea to throw out and replace them?

    Thanks,

    Viper

Most all of Meguiar's products have a shelf life of 3 - 5 years and should not be exposed to prolonged extreme heat or cold. If anything, it would never hurt to use the product, even if it were spoiled.

For a liquid wax like NXT Tech Wax 2.0, shake it up, and inspect to see if it still has a consistency similar to what you are familiar with. If it is watery or separated, these are indications it has spoiled from one variable or another.

I've had a bottle of NXT 2.0 for nine years now. And for some reason, it's still good. Still one of my favorite products to use.

Low temperatures is the killer. If it's stored in cool dry place it'll be fine. I'm still using wax and polish that's over 5 years old (huge discount blow out, so I brought a bunch ....)

if the content is separated then it's useless. Those fancy 'synthetic ' stuff seem to go bad rather quickly.
