  • New 2018 Camper - Gel Coat need advice

Need some advice on a new 2018 camper. It is currently being built at the factory. I want to start off the right way with the detailing. Specs: White Gel Coat with decals

    1. Can I use regular Carnauba wax or NXT?
    2. I heard that the Flagship is a semi aggressive cleaner/wax. Will I need this on a new unit?
    3. Wax or put 303 Aero on decals?

When I waxxed my new pop up a couple of years ago when I got it, I used Ultimate wax. It was brand new, but had been sitting outside for a couple of months. I didn't clay or do anything to it other than a good wash. Its, not my car, lol. I just wanted some good protection on it. Mine is stored inside winters and partial during the rest of the year. I went over the stickers/decals with the wax with no issues. I didn't do anything other than a quick wax once in two years. Last year I put a coat of Paint Protect 365 on it because I had some on the shelf and I wanted to see how it would do on it.

NXT should last longer. I doubt you will need anything aggressive for cleaning on a brand new unit, and if you keep up with it and keep it from oxidizing, you may never need anything. Mine is still shinny and looks new.

Good luck. Throw up some pics when you get it done!

        1. You can use automotive waxes on a gel coat/fiberglass with no issue, but in our opinion, you will get better performance from using our Marine/RV specific waxes. Gel Coat/Fiberglass is different than automotive paint, it is much thicker, harder, and more porous. Our Marine/RV products are designed with these different characteristics in mind. It can actually make a big difference with over performance including easier application.

        2. Meguiar's M63 Flagship Premium Marine Wax is not an aggressive cleaner/wax and it a perfect choice for a new unit.

        3. In regards to the exterior vinyl decals, Meguiar's technically does not recommend using any of our traditional liquid or paste waxes on these surfaces. We do recommend & approve the use of our spray waxes. Our M14016 Flagship Ultimate Quik Wax would be perfect for maintenance of exterior vinyl decals on a RV/Boat.

Hope this helps! Feel free to post further questions.
