Ok so im pretty desperate for an answer and a solution as to why my whole hood has this haze/ foggy look to it? I covered it up with wax which helped a bit for now and i did not take pictures to post of the hazing before I applied the wax. Anyways, ive been into detailing for a wile now but have never attempted paint correction. I am lacking funds for my detailing arsenal so i purchased the DA power system with both burgundy and yellow pads along with ultimate compound(UC) and ultimate polish(UP). I have a 2016 Honda Accord with what i believe has soft paint. Thats also what ive found a lot of other Honda 9th gen accord owners to say as well. So i was pretty scared to attempt any type of paint correction on my Black car because i didnt want it to mar up the paint or have a dole look to it because it would definitely show on black. My car has very light scratches that can only be seen in certain angles in the sun. So i could have done without the paint correction for a bit longer but i wanted to do it so i can learn and also i have been obsessing over the minor imperfections in the paint.
So this is what i did in the process:
First my car was just a little dusty because it had been washed a couple of days ago and kept in the garage. So i used ultimate wash and wax anywhere to get the dust off the back panel that i was testing. Then i clayed the area.
Next I started with the least aggressive option and used the yellow pad with the polish. I did just a very small area and went over with 4 passes going just a bit on the faster side but still at a steady pace. Then i wiped off residue with 20%IPA solution and it looked fine at the time.
So next i did the same thing to my hood and trunk. I divided the trunk into 2 sections and the hood into 4 sections and did the same thing as i did on my test spot. (Oh and i applied 5 pea sized drops of polish on the pad each section).
I used an air compressor to clean the pads after every other section.
Next I went ahead and washed the whole car with chemical guys citrus wash and gloss with about a 1oz per gallon ration to strip any oil or wax so i can apply ultimate wax and then ultimate fast finish.
After the wash i dried using a leaf blower and waffle weave towel.
Then as im about to apply the wax to my hood i see the horrific hazing on the hood. It was also on the trunk and test spot. Idk what happened but im attempted to buy a porter cable and m205 to try and fix this but idk if it was my technique or not. Like i said i used 5 pea sized drops and made 4 passes on about a 2ft by 2 ft area. By the 4th pass some of the polish on the edges was a bit dry but for the most part there was still some moisture to it, if that makes sense.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
