  • Removing water spots from glass?

    Hey guys,

So today after washing my car, I clayed the glass with smooth surface clay kit. The glass has water spots in it. I have the meguiars da power system and I used it with the yellow polishing pad and ultimate compound to try to get those water spots out. It is working but at a very very slow rate and with a a lot of passes.

I also have the burgundy pads which I'd like to pair with ultimate compound instead of the polishing pad but I'm afraid if it will scratch the glass? Or will it give me good results and won't take long? My car is a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer ES. I want to use what I already have and don't want to buy new products.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Try household vinegar with a microfiber towel. Straight up no need to dilute.

You can try the vinegar. If possible, it would help to wet the towel with it and let it dwell for 15-20 minutes. Just don't let it dry. To answer your question, the maroon pad shouldn't scratch the glass. Glass is generally tougher than clear coat.

I've polished plenty of glass with Meg's #105 and a wool pad. No scratching. You shouldn't have to worry with your current products. As a side note, #0000 steel wool works well on those corners and edges where you may not be able to reach with the polisher. Clean the surface thoroughly after using the steel wool.

Agreed that our red compounding pad on your DA Power System with Ultimate Compound is OK to use on exterior glass.
