    Hi Guys,

Finally I have decided to switch from hand to DA Polisher and purchased chinese copy of RUPES - Clover CT9000. The reason why this and not the original, is price, 3 times less than the RUPES.

So, I will get it in 7-10 days. Before that I would like to explore some issues and would like some help from you.

So, I have some minor swirls and scratches on my Carbon Black Metallic BMW. I would like to correct them with Ultimate Compound or Polish.

Now, I am interested how to proceed. I know that Compound is quite strong, so should I try with Polish first? Actually I prefer to use lighter abrasive, but do you think that the Ultimate Polish will be effective in removing those swirls?

I will be working with the included pads. Here is the link to my order. Do you think that these pads will be good enough?

Here are the photos of my paint that I will be working on.

Our Ultimate Polish is probably not going to remove some of those deep scratches. I would start with Ultimate Compound on a foam polishing pad. If this combination does not remove the defects to your satisfaction, use Ultimate Compound on a stronger foam cutting pad. After the use of Ultimate Compound, it would now be optional to use the Ultimate Polish, but it typically does provide a noticeable higher gloss especially on darker colors. Then follow with your favorite coat of wax for protection. Also remember to clay first after washing if needed.

    Hope this helps

I have already clayed it with Sonax Clay around 2 weeks ago....then cleaned the paint with P21 S paintwork cleanser. Should I clay it again?

I won't say that the surface is ideally smooth, but when I was claying it, quite a good amount of dirt was seen on the clay bar

You should not have to clay again if it was just done two weeks ago : )

                Re: Clover ct9000

                Hi Nick,

I have worked today with my DA polisher...Did a test spot on the trunk...First started with Ultimate Polish and Polishing pad (that is actually the Hex logic style pad, but the one that came with the polisher from China, so probably not the best quality)....It did remove some swirls/scratches, but I did not like the results....Then I switched to Ultimate Compound and Compounding Pad (This pad also from china)....I would say that 80 percent of the swirls/scratches have been removed...Then I have polished this area with Ultimate Polish....

                So, my observations:

                1. Ultimate Compound behaved lot better than Ultimate Polish

                2. Ultimate Polish has left some haze and was quite difficult to buff off...

                3. Ultimate Compound went without any new scratches or haze...it was lot easier to wipe off than UP....

                4. I did not see any difference after applying UP on top of UC...Moreover, i think that paint compounded with UC looked better than when I polished it with UP...

So, I have a new plan for the next test spot ( I am not doing the whole car yet, just trying to experiment different options):

I have ordered LC Flat style Compound Pad and will try it with Ultimate Compound...

So, I have one question: Do you think that using Ultimate Compound on the whole car will be too aggressive for the Paint? It has been never compounded by me...

Or are there any other options, like Meguiars SwirlX or Chemical Guys VSS Swirl and Scratch remover?

                Appreciate your help!

And one last question: Do you think that it might be better to use M205 rather than UP after UC?

Very uncommon to get bad results from Ultimate Polish. It may have been the pad.
